Z-Tech are specialists in the field of flowmeter install, calibration and verification.
Case Study - Water Utilites
Z-Tech provide meter verification on all water into supply, zonal, abstraction and recharge flowmeters. Z-Tech are required to demonstrate to the water regulators that there is a system of verification in place and provide confidence that all meters are reading correctly and working within acceptable limits. Z-Tech Technicians will visit the meters to perform a whole range of tests on the meter including logging and verification using a secondary device. Flow data is recorded and analysed by Z-Tech using mathematical models. This data is then used for auditing purposes in conjunction with national regulatory bodies.
Examples
Below are some examples of the type of tests Z-Tech do and flowmeters they encounter.
DF868 Flowmeter Verification
Z-Tech technicians verify a GE DF868, which is configured in a dual path formation with channel averaging. The verification is carried out using a ultrasonic secondary
flowmeter. The transducers for this are installed on the pipe with magnetic clamps – as banding straps could not be used.
As part of verification, technicians tested other units in the green kiosk. Both the Radcom logger and BT line were checked and tested as part of routine verification work.

Example of other secondary verification techniques - probes
Technician below was testing Radcom Logger and ABB Aquamaster units. Note size of chamber.
Probe chambers tend to be small, so technicians have limited space to work in. The flow through
the main would have been profiled as part of verification. Note the blue arrow in chamber.
This has been marked in order to show direction of flow. This picture shows a routine probe
verification taking place.
