EPR Glanford

Steam Turbine Maintenance

Z-Tech was commissioned to calibrate the steam turbine vibration monitoring equipment at the EPR (13.5 MW) plant at Glanford.

This was a very tight time scale to remove probes from machine, calibrate, reposition and re-commission during start-up.

  • Minimal outage
  • On-site calibration

Key solutions:

Z-Tech used OEM Calibration equipment, called a ‘wobbulator’, to calibrate radial and axial probes and check alarms back to SCADA via Bently Nevada 3300.

  • Systems
  • Mechanical engineering
  • Electrical

Key benefits:

The probes were calibrated to ensure that the machine works within its operational limits and to reduce uncertainty of the measurements taken.

Z-Tech was able to calibrate the probes on-site, therefore reducing the duration of the outage. This enabled the customer to have flexibility with their re-commissioning schedule.

“This contract is a great example of where Z-Tech has used the latest calibration equipment to help the customer reduce the time of their outage.” Shannon Neyland, Head of Service

  • "The customer focus and flexibility of Z-Tech makes it easy for a water utility to deal with. When we have a large and complex programme to deliver, planning every detail can be a challenge. Working with Z-Tech means that we can maintain delivery, knowing that resources are available to pick up the loose ends."

    Jim Grandison, Thames Water

  • "Z-Tech has proven a professional and technical approach to delivery on our automation projects. This has resulted in a long-term business relationship built upon good service, project delivery and trust."
